The numbers are mind-boggling… 125 super yachts on display, 580 different exhibitors, not to mention 40 tenders and toys. We’re talking about the 2016 Monaco Yacht Show that starts on 28 September. Baroque Access has all the details
This event is the highlight of the Principality of Monaco’s annual calendar and is now entering its 26th year. The Monaco Yacht Show is where yacht aficionados and prospective yacht buyers flock to admire, visit and perhaps purchase some of the most exquisite super yachts in the world, built by the most respected shipyards. At least 40 new yachts are launched every year at the show, along with almost 600 companies and partners that participate, the latest trends in naval architecture and the technological gadgets or nautical leisure accessories of tomorrow.
Of course, Monaco offers a perfectly glamorous setting and the event is also hosted by His Serene Highness Prince Albert II of Monaco. Held over four days at Port Hercules, the Monaco Yacht Show is the definitive showcase for super yachts from around the world (we’re talking about yachts that are over 30m in length). Whilst more than 100 of these vessels are to be found in the principality’s Port Hercules, others are further out to sea, creating an astonishing spectacle.
Exploring the extravagant luxury yachts on display is an adventure not to be missed, and if you’re in the market for a new vessel or wish to charter a super yacht, this show is the place to be. Of course, this is a pastime that is restricted to those who can afford upward of £100 million (that’s almost US$133 million!) to buy a super yacht, not counting at least 10% of that sum annually for maintenance of the yacht.
This year, a selection of exquisite prestige cars will also be displayed at the Monaco Yacht Show in the new prestige car exhibition zone, including the likes of Lamborghini, Rolls-Royce, Tesla and various others. In addition to the 10 models on display at the Monaco Yacht Show Car Deck, visitors and exhibitors will enjoy an indoor lounge bar for refreshments. The cars will also be available for test drives and for purchase. Lamborghini will showcase the Huracan LP610-4 Spyder at the show, and the Rolls-Royce Dawn will also be on display. Tesla’s Model S P90D, known for its staggering speed, will also be an exhibit, as will an armored Range Rover Autobiography and the Mercedes Benz Class S550.
This year, more than 34,000 people will participate in the 26th Monaco Yacht Show, which is considered an important indicator of the luxury industry. The night before the show starts, on 27 September, 400 guests will enjoy a gala opening evening. Prior to this, just 50 guests will enjoy an exclusive Monaco Yacht Summit. This year, transport facilities have been improved so that guests can travel between the various exhibition areas in Port Hercules with ease, and there will be a golf cart service as well to back up the network of courtesy cars and bus shuttles connecting Monaco hotels to the Port. In addition, there will be three helicopter services between Monaco and Nice airport and the Cannes and Saint Tropez business terminals. There is also a new Monaco Yacht Show app that was launched at the end of August to facilitate transport to any exhibition booth or yacht that interests a visitor.
