Yes you can have it all at the Cannes Film Festival! Enjoy the festival fanfare, and then get away from it all at this luxe hotel in the countryside

Cannes shines, year round, but its sparkle brightest during the Film Festival. The fanfare, the noise, the excitement and magic is unmatched. But, as every celebrity will attest, there comes a time when you’ve had enough of the glamour and glitz and the champagne soaked parties.

So where do the celebrities stay when they’re in town? There’s a best kept secret just 7km from Cannes city center, the magnificent Le Mas Candille, a meticulously restored 18th Century Provencal farmhouse surrounded by established cypress trees, where the likes of Johnny Depp, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have laid their weary heads.

Le Mas Candille is located on the top of a hill overlooking the charming little medieval village of Mougins. The quaint village with its shady lanes and little Provencal houses was where Picasso spent the last 15 years of his life.

The hotel offers a choice of 46 beautiful cosy rooms (including seven suites) spread across three buildings, classically decorated in a neutral palette with understated en suite bathrooms. Each room is individually designed using original antiques, opulent fabrics and rich soft furnishings and most offer private balconies or terraces where guests can enjoy the breathtaking views. One can also explore the spectacular surrounds at leisure – after all, there must be some magic attached to them if they inspired Picasso to spend so much time here.

Of course, the offerings here are sublime. There’s a world-famous spa (Angie frequented it on her last visit), a Michellen-starred restaurant, Le Candille, where celebrity chef Serge Gouloumes prepares meals fit for royalty and wall-to-wall superlative service. Of course, one can also enjoy a ‘chef’s table’ inside the main kitchen, or eat simpler but equally delicious fare at the poolside restaurant, La Pergola.

The hotel, which is part of the prestigious Relais & Châteaux association of hotels and resorts around the world, offers a number of fun activities, including cooking lessons, wine tastings, Boule, three swimming pools, two Jacuzzis and the famous Shiseido Spa.
