Manhattan’s latest luxury hotel, the New York EDITION, opened its doors last week Thursday with a star-studded party. Baroque Travel has all the details

5 Madison Avenue was the place to be on Thursday May 14, as celebrities and super stars such as Leonardo DiCaprio, Alexa Chung, Tobey Maguire and Chrissy Teigen got together to celebrate the opening of the plush and extraordinary New York EDITION.

W Magazine took over the Clocktower Restaurant’s three dining rooms where guests enjoyed delicacies prepared by Michelin-starred chef Jason Atherton. Then, as the clock struck 10, they explored the hotel’s lobby, billiards room, upstairs and downstairs bars. DJ Q-Tip kept the music going, and the party went on till 4am. The following day, EDITION’s hotelier, Ian Schrager came to assess the damages. Schrager is the mastermind behind three unique hotels now found worldwide (the first was in London, the second is in Miami and the New York EDITION is the third) which he created in collaboration with Marriott International.

Schrager is believed to have said that the party was a huge success, and that’s coming from the man who made his name by creating Studio 54, one of the most iconic clubs in the world.

The hotel itself epitomises everything that we have come to expect from the EDITION brand. It offers a unique hotel experience, with personalized service and a design ethic that is quite unique. And then there’s the food, which is quite sublime, and entertainment offerings that are a cut above anything else on offer. The hotels are also quite unique and distinct – as Schrader wanted, they are all one of a kind. Guests enjoy exceptional facilities, services and amenities, a luxury offering that will see the hotel group grow to be one of the most competitive in the market.

The New York EDITION is housed in a 41-story clock tower that was originally erected in 1909 as HQ for the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company. This historic building is a NYC landmark that has now been transformed into a plush hotel with 273 guest rooms and suites all offering spectacular city views. The Clocktower Restaurant, run by Jason Atherton is located on the second floor, decorated with exquisite mahogany wood paneling and exquisite works of art. The hotel also boasts two bars as well as a state-of-the-art spa and fitness center which are both located on the 39th floor.

Located directly opposite Madison Square Park, this magnificent hotel is pet friendly, and offers a selection of luxury facilities, including 28-inch flat screen HDTVs in the rooms with cable access, high definition channels and movies on demand, not to mention custom-made Le Labo bathroom amenities with a signature scent that is exclusive to EDITION.
