Nothing beats sitting under the stars watching a movie on a warm summer night. Baroque Access finds out what’s on this August

New York City’s Rooftop Cinema Club is a spin-off from the famous London outdoor movie club. It’s located at the contemporary and swank Yotel terrace, the largest outdoor terrace in the city, located just two blocks west of Time square on the corner of 10th Avenue and West 42nd Street.

The Yotel’s luxury alfresco film experience includes admission plus a bottle of Moet & Chandon and hot buttered popcorn under the stars. Guests are given quality earphones, comfortable seats on the rooftop with panoramic views of Manhattan at night and a stunning choice of cult classic films. In fact, these evenings are so sought-after that many of the movie nights are already sold out!

This year, 2016, is the second successful year of outdoor film experiences in Manhattan. The venue is ideal for alfresco film watching, and guests also enjoy breathtaking views of the sunset along with drinks from the bar, globally inspired street food from the hotel’s Green Fig Restaurant, not to mention a choice of stunning cult movies. This unique experience is only available in the summer; it started on 3 May with a showing of the classic hit, Casablanca, and continues through until September. Doors open at 6pm, guests enjoy drinks or something to eat, and around sunset, at approximately 8 or 8.15pm, you can don your wireless headphones, adjust the volume to suit you, and wait for the movie to start. The bar is open till 11pm.

A great movie, good company, bubbly and buttered popcorn on a midsummer night… at around $35 per person, it’s a steal and well worth it for a stunning experience. So don’t miss out, as there are still seats available for some shows in August.

For August, there’s still plenty on offer, ranging from die-hard cult classics to some of the funniest romantic comedies, plus some must-sees from this year’s movie highlights.
