If you’re looking for a unique island destination, why not try Pemba Island in Zanzibar? Luxury hotel brand Constance Hotels & Resorts opens a brand new hotel on this little slice of paradise on 11 January 2018

Constance Hotels & Resorts has added a touch of its signature luxe to the island of Pemba in Tanzania’s Zanzibar Archipelago. This is the most recent addition to the group which currently owns and manages eight deluxe properties in a selection of unspoiled Indian Ocean destinations including Madagascar, Mauritius, the Seychelles and the Maldives. The latest addition is Constance Aiyana, a haven of luxury and tranquility on the northern tip of this Zanzibar island, on the Ras Kigomasha Peninsula.

Pemba is accessible from Dar es Salaam; a 30-minute light aircraft flight from Zanzibar and can be part of a multi-destination safari trip or a stand-alone exotic holiday.

The new five-star jewel, Constance Aiyana, took eight years to build, using only locally sourced materials like limestone, aggregates, coconut brooms. Being in total harmony with Mother Nature is an approach adopted by Constance Hotels & Resorts to ensure that all of its properties respect and integrate into their environments. It’s an intimate hotel, with only 30 beachfront villas nestling in an indigenous garden at the edge of the azure Indian Ocean.

Its charm abounds, partly due to its setting along the 2,000-year-old Indian Ocean trade route, and its architecture is enthralling. It’s an ideal vacation spot for those who love nature, birds, diving and adventure, set in a spectacular location. The resort features a large main swimming pool, wellness spa offering massages, facials and body treatments, a gym and excellent dining opportunities, all farm to table, served in the main restaurant, which is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Cuisine is a fusion of traditional Zanzibari and international flavors, and seafood, including fresh fish, is the specialty. There’s also a private bar in the Matemwe Beach House, a Shisha Lounge area and wine cellar.

Guests’ leisure time is taken up with all sorts of free water sports, including boat trips, snorkelling and pedal boats, as well as some at a fee, such as fishing, diving, yoga lessons and exploring the island. Of course, Constance Hotels & Resorts also offers WiFi (at the restaurant and bar), as well as two stores, one selling crafts, souvenirs and shells; the other sells exclusive artworks.
