Disney’s Mickey Mouse turns 90 on 18 November this year, and numerous fashion brands are celebrating with capsule collections. Baroque Access takes a look at what we’ll see in the stores soon
We can expect plenty of events, exhibitions, activations and clothing collections as Disney icon Mickey Mouse celebrates his 90th anniversary this November. Clothing brands such as Vault by Vans, Marc Jacobs, Coach, Opening Ceremony and Rag & Bone have all come up with on-trend capsule collections to celebrate Mickey – take a look!
Launching on 1 November is the newest collaboration – Disney by Rag & Bone is a limited edition collection that coincides with the celebration of Mickey Mouse’s 90th anniversary. US apparel brand Rag & Bone steps into the wonderful world of Disney with a capsule collection of unisex pieces that boast “a New York sensibility”, according to a press release. The range is street wear-inspired and you’ll find Mickey’s face on a range of stunning T-shirts, denim, cozy knitwear and sneakers.
The campaign features models in the new collection frolicking on the streets of New York. This isn’t the first time the brand has paid tribute to Disney – last year, the brand celebrated the launch of the film Star Wars: The Last Jedi with a limited edition range of T’s and futuristic footwear. The latest range, featuring Mickey with a modern edge, will be available online as well as in various pop-ups in New York, LA and London. Items include cotton Oxford shirts, a shearling jacket, sneakers and jeans.

Luxury bag brand Coach has an on-going collaboration with Disney, but to celebrate Mickey’s 90th birthday, it added a selection of totes, messenger bags, wallets, phone pocket stickers and other items that feature both Mickey and Minnie Mouse. Trendy shoe and clothing brand Vans is celebrating Mickey’s big day with its 2018 collection of sneakers, clothing and accessories. Some of the 11 new designs are quite radical, others are cute, quirky or classic. Fans can customize their own Mickey-inspired sneakers, which are not only available for kids… the brand includes plenty of footwear for adults, too. These items have been available since 5 October.
For Mickey’s milestone, American fashion designer Marc Jacobs recently created a small but stylish ‘X Disney Mickey Mouse Collection’. It’s not cheap, but as Marc Jacobs is a designer brand, the pieces are worth the price.
