When it comes to getaways, the world is your oyster. For 2020, Baroque Travel reveals a glorious pearl – magnificent Tanzania, where you can enjoy a holiday in both the beach and the bush

Who knew? This stunning African country is not only one of the best places to go on safari – Tanzania also offers an unmatched beach experience on the magical island of Zanzibar, just 35km off the coast.

The legendary Wildebeest Migration takes place in this incredibly beautiful country in the winter months – this is when thousands of animals travel across the Serengeti plains en route to the Masai Marai in Kenya. But that incredible spectacle is not all you can see on an unmatched game viewing experience in Tanzania. The country is home to some of the largest game parks in Africa, offering a variety of wildlife to view in its natural habitat, either from the comfort of four-wheel-drive vehicles, or on foot. There’s the breathtaking Ngorongo Crater, home to elephants with giant tusks, thousands of pink flamingos, the endangered black rhino and black-maned lion. In the Lake Manyara National Park you’ll find blue monkeys and baboons, as well as an incredible variety of birds and tree-climbing lions. In the Ruaha National Parak, chimpanzees swing through the trees on the shores of Lake Tanganyika. And let’s not forget legendary Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest mountain in Africa and home to a wide selection of wildlife. It’s also a popular sport to climb to the summit. And then there’s the unique Ngorongoro Crater, the largest intact volcanic caldera in the world…

In complete contrast, there’s the magical island of Zanzibar, called The Spice Island, because of the numerous spices that grow there, including vanilla, nutmeg, cloves and cardamom. It’s heaven on earth in Zanzibar, with powder-white sand beaches and turquoise sea. Visitors here enjoy swimming, snorkeling, sunbathing, scuba diving and other fun watersports, as well as exploring the island to learn about its unique culture, which has a distinctive Arab influence. In addition, there are numerous outlying islands to explore, making Zanzibar a beautiful getaway. And did we mention that the weather here is glorious? And that the locals, including the legendary Masai people, are friendly and happy to share their cultures and extraordinary traditions with visitors?

Which do you prefer – beach or bush? In Tanzania you can go on safari, enjoy an unsurpassed tropical island break – or do both. Whichever you choose, this charming, untouched African country is a delight to visit, and our choice of where to go in 2020. There are numerous luxury safari lodges and island resorts for you to choose from. Baroque Travel will be happy to make some suggestions for you.
