Baroque Lifestyle joins the debate – is Amazon in talks to buy online retailer Net-a-Porter?

According to an article in Forbes Magazine last week, the talks may be happening, but the deal is nowhere near complete. Following on a report that first appeared in Women’s Wear Daily, which stated that negotiations were underway for Amazon to purchase it’s largest acquisition to date, rumors have been rife about whether it’s actually happening.

But even if negotiations are taking place, they are still in the very early stages, apparently, and even if it does happen, it won’t cost what WWD reported to be around $2.19 billion or 2 billion euros. Neither Amazon or Net-A-Porter are prepared to comment at this stage, which creates even more questions.

But let’s take a look at the possibility of this take-over. Amazon has apparently wanted to enter the luxury retail sector for a while now, and Net-a-Porter, currently owned by Swiss Compagnie Fianciere Richemont, fits the bill perfectly.

Let’s keep watching this space to see what occurs…
