Redefining the experience of film, this year’s Tribeca Film Festival offers a selection of over 100 films, 20 Virtual Realty and Interactive Installations, 40 talks and 15 special TV events

Robert De Niro, Jane Rosenthal and Craig Hatkoff founded the Tribeca Film Festival in 2002, and without a doubt, it gets better every year. More than 3 million people will attend this year, which is the 15th in a row, to see where the spotlight has fallen in 2016, which foreign films, top films from big-name talent and great ones from up-and-comers. But that’s not all, there will be documentaries, indie features and several unique events which will make this year’s Tribeca Film Festival the most exciting yet.

The Tribeca Film Festival, which takes place in Lower Manhattan at a series of venues, will open on 13 April and run until the 24th. Audiences will enjoy a new way of experiencing film. For instance, as the film The Bomb is projected onto huge floor-to-ceiling screens, the band The Acid will perform a live score in the middle of the space, offering a one-of-a-kind experience.

Every year, a highlight of the Festival is the opening night, and this year is no different. On April 13, the film The First Monday in May, will be screened. Those in the know are aware that this date is when the annual Met Ball is on the calendar. This fundraiser, which is chaired by no other than Anna Wintour who assists in raising funds for the Costume Institute and fashion exhibit at the Metropolitan Museum of Arts. Not only will the privileged few invited to the event get a look at some of the spectacular red-carpet gowns worn to the Ball, it will also feature the exquisitely styled show at the 2015 event, entitled China: Through the Looking Glass, which was curated by Andrew Bolton.

The First Monday in May is directed by Andrew Rossi, who also created the excellent New York Times documentary called Page One: Inside the New York Times.
