Dubai is to get a brand new project, the Marsa Al Arab located near the famous Burj Al Arab, which will include two luxury islands on either side of the hotel. Baroque Access finds out all about it
The brand new Marsa Al Arab project in Dubai will see the famous Burj Al Arab hotel become even more of a landmark, as it will include two luxury islands located on either side of the hotel. The project, which breaks ground in June, will include hotels, theaters, shops, a marina, an entire business district plus luxury villas and residences, is expected to be complete by late 2020.
Marsa Al Arab will spread across four million square feet of land including the two islands, one of which will comprise a family friendly tourist destination with hotels and entertainment including Wild Wadi Waterpark, which already exists and will be relocated, while the second luxury island, which will be private, will be built on the left-hand-side of the Burj Al Arab hotel, which is operated by Jumeirah. It will feature 140 luxury villas, a boutique hotel and a private marina.
Also part of the project is a Marine Park that will feature a theatre with seating for 1,000 people. There, visitors will be able to interact with aquatic animals and fish. There will be a second theatre on the island that can seat up to 1,700 people – this will be home to Cirque du Soleil. In addition, the Dubai Pearl Museum showcasing rare and ancient pearls from the region will be built on the island. It will include a functioning pearl farm and a boutique hotel that is pearl-inspired.
Marsa Al Arab’s shopping area will be built where the Wild Wadi Water Park is currently located. Aside from numerous shops, it will also include 300 seafront residential apartments on the island’s 2.2km beachfront. All of the hotels in the new project are expected to add 2,400 hotel rooms to Jumeirah Group’s portfolio of hotels.
