In Paris on 17 October, MAIA Luxury Resort & Spa in the Seychelles won the Grand Prix in the 15th Prix Villégiature Awards in Paris as The Best Hotel in Africa. Baroque Travel has all the details

The prestigious Villégiature Awards, which were held at the Château de Ferrière, just outside Paris last week, were presided over by a jury of 24 top international travel journalists from media outlets around the world. Each year, a panel of esteemed judges selects a number of winners from the very finest hotels in Europe, Africa, the Middle East and Asia.

Winner of the Best Hotel in Africa 2017 is certainly an accolade of note, and MAIA Luxury Resort & Spa is a deserving candidate. This luxury Seychelles resort is renowned for its exceptional hospitality offering. A jewel in the Indian Ocean island of Mahé in the Seychelles archipelago, the resort is located on its own private peninsula with spectacular views over the sea.

The resort is a BEYOND all-inclusive resort, which offers guests a signature experience that is quite unique. A member of the Leading Hotels of the World, the resort nestles on the southwest coast of Mahé island amongst lush foliage right on Anse Louis Beach. It features just 30 private thatched villas, each with its own personal, dedicated butler as well as a private infinity pool and sunken outdoor double bath, flat screen TV, DVD player and iPod docking station. And did we mention the magnificent 180-degree vistas of the sea from the Ocean Panoramic Villas? Not to mention champagne on call, barbecues in your villa, daily private yoga classes and even an in-villa mani/pedi.

Resort facilities include the luxury MAIA spa, where guests enjoy Omorovicza spa treatments in three thatched, shaded open-air pavilions. There are three different types of massage to choose from, five facial treatments and free qui gong sessions.

At MAIA resort, guests enjoy lavish fine dining options at a choice of restaurants (Asian, Indian, Mediterranean and Creole) and as the resort is all-inclusive, all meals and most drinks are included in the rates.

The resort also features a fitness center and an infinity pool overlooking the long white sand beach. Guests enjoy a selection of non-motorized water sports that are free to guests as well as exploration scuba diving. If you have a snorkel, bring it with you as right in front of the resort is an exquisite coral reef where you can see a magical underwater world. Guests also enjoy excursions to explore neighboring islands, each of which has its own distinctive personality.
