Jaguar owners will participate in one of the most popular events of the Concours of Elegance which takes place at Windsor Castle in Britain from 2 to 4 September. Baroque Ground finds out all the details

As part of Jaguar Land Rover Classic’s partnership with the Concours of Elegance, owners of Jaguar automobiles will have the chance to enter their vehicles into the Jaguar Land Rover Trophy in a choice of five categories: Pre-war, Saloons, Sports cars, Classics of the Future and Judges’ Choice. All owners of entry vehicles will be invited to park their cherished Jaguars in specially reserved spaces along Windsor Castle’s The Long Walk on Saturday 3 September. That day, a panel of expert judges will choose the winners in each class plus an overall winner, entitled ‘Best in Show’.

Last year’s Jaguar Land Rover Classic was a huge success, attracting a stunning selection of Jaguar vehicles. The setting – Windsor Castle , which is the largest and oldest inhabited castle in the world – is also idyllic and historic, making it the perfect location for a showcasing of classic motor cars. The exhibition offers motor aficionados as well as Jaguar owners and potential buyers the opportunity to view these classic vehicles and take a look at recent restorations.

The Concours of Elegance 2016, which takes place between 2 and 4 September this year, offers visitors the opportunity to view 60 of the most exceptional cars from all over the world. It is a unique event, as it’s the only automotive event to be held at a Royal venue.  In past years, the event has been held at iconic British locations such as St James’ Palace, Hampton Court Palace and the Palace of Holyroodhouse. This year, the event takes place at Windsor Castle during Her Majesty the Queen’s 90th birthday celebrations and the display is going to be even more exceptional than ever.

His Royal Highness Prince Michael of Kent is the patron of the Concours of Elegance, and he serves as the Chief Judge in the popular Royal Automobile Club ‘Club Trophy’ which brings together the ‘best of the best’ cars in the UK. The winner of the trophy is granted automatic entry into the following year’s Concours of Elegance.

According to Concours of Elegance judges, if a vehicle is invited to participate in this prestigious event, it is already a winner. The owner of each vehicle is thus given one vote to vote for another vehicle in the Concours that they consider worthy of winning the trophy. The car with the most votes then wins the Concours of Elegance Pullman Trophy and the title ‘Best in Show’.

This exciting event will be open to the public on both Saturday and Sunday 3 and 4 September 2016. The key objective of this Concours of Elegance, like those in the past, is to raise significant amounts for charity. To date more than $791,000 has been raised.
