Max Verstappen Shuts Down Rumors, Confirms He’s Staying at Red Bull for 2025

Max Verstappen Confirms He’s Staying at Red Bull for 2025

In a much-anticipated statement that cuts through months of speculation, four-time Formula 1 world champion Max Verstappen has confirmed he’s not leaving Red Bull Racing—at least not yet.

Speaking ahead of the Hungarian Grand Prix, Verstappen declared, “It’s time to stop all the rumors.” The star driver put to rest growing whispers that he might jump ship to Mercedes, after public interest from Mercedes boss Toto Wolff and ongoing internal tension within Red Bull following the exit of former CEO Christian Horner.

Red Bull’s 2024 season hasn’t matched the blistering dominance of previous years. With faster competition from McLaren and some instability in Verstappen’s teammate seat—currently filled by Yuki Tsunoda—the paddock had been buzzing with possibilities of a surprise switch. But Verstappen remained focused on performance, not politics.

“I was just focused on talking to the team about how we can improve our performance, future ideas for next year,” Verstappen said in Hungary. “When you’re not interested in staying, you also stop talking about these kinds of things—and I never did.”

Though his contract officially runs until 2028, Verstappen’s elite status means he can essentially renegotiate or reassess yearly. But for now, his commitment to Red Bull is clear, reaffirming a partnership that has delivered him four world championships and a dominant legacy in the modern era of Formula 1.

Looking ahead, the 2026 F1 regulation overhaul looms large. Red Bull plans to debut its own in-house power unit, giving Verstappen a potentially huge advantage in future championships. Yet, it’s a new era that will also see fierce competition, with Aston Martin, McLaren, Ferrari, and even the incoming Cadillac-backed 11th team preparing to challenge Red Bull’s throne.

Verstappen’s decision to stay signals confidence—not just in the team’s engineering, but in its ability to evolve through change. Red Bull’s gamble on building their own engines may very well shape the next generation of F1 dominance.

For now, Red Bull fans can exhale. Their champion isn’t going anywhere—yet.
