This November 9, Sotheby’s will host a landmark auction in Geneva, the largest dedicated to Breguet timepieces in over 25 years. The event celebrates the 250th anniversary of the legendary watchmaker Abraham-Louis Breguet, whose innovations such as the tourbillon and automatic winding revolutionized horology.
Curated over more than a year, the auction features 70 rare and historically significant timepieces from private collections worldwide. Highlights include centuries-old pocket watches, intricate table clocks, and limited-edition modern wristwatches.
Among the top five timepieces
Perpétuelle Montre à Tact (1827): An exceptional 20k gold watch with automatic winding and a tactile time-telling mechanism, once owned by King George IV of Great Britain.

Four-Minute Tourbillon (1809): Featuring Breguet’s famed tourbillon and natural escapement mechanisms, owned by Russian aristocracy.

Pendule Portique Clock (1842): A silver-mounted clock with advanced horological complications including alarms and calendars.

Split-Seconds Stopwatch (1817–1821): A prototype of the modern chronograph, featuring split-second timing in brilliant 20k gold craftsmanship.

Classique Souscription 2025: A limited edition wristwatch inspired by Breguet’s original 1796 Souscription model, celebrating 250 years of innovation.
