New Polo Reverso Watch & Strap from Jaeger-LeCoultre

Yes, the stunning Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Tribute Small Seconds is not a new watch. But the strap is. Baroque Access takes a look at the Swiss watchmaker’s latest iteration of this famous timepiece. In collaboration with famous Argentinian leather specialist Casa Fabliano, famous for their exquisitely crafted riding boots for polo and equestrian sports, Jaeger-LeCoultre’s new Polo Reverso watch is a force to be reckoned with. The exquisite top-stitched burgundy strap that adorns the latest 45.66mm timepiece, priced at approximately $8 716, celebrates the two brands’ shared polo heritage.

The sunray polished dial combines with the exquisite leather strap to create a striking timepiece, beautifully Art Deco inspired with the lines of its steel case. The 822/2 hand-wound movement allows for a slim 8.5mm case, and the back has been kept plain to enable engraving.

The Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso’s legendary reversing case has been famous since it was first created in the 1930s. Interestingly enough, the reversing case was designed so that it could withstand the polo matches played by the British Army officers in India. The dial, smoothly concealed by reversing the case, reveals a back that protects the face completely from possible mallet strokes.

This timeless and unique design has been enchanting both men and women ever since. The androgynous design is made more feminine with the addition of jewelled elements in some of the models, while the more masculine creations boast a decidedly marked Art Deco aesthetic.

The case of the latest Jaeger-LeCoultre Caliber 822/2 timepiece is stainless steel and measures 45.6 x 27.4mm. Functions include Hours, Minutes and Seconds. The movement is manual-winding and there are 108 components in all, as well as 19 jewels. The dial is blue, sunray-brushed, with appliqued hour-markers. And the strap, as we have already mentioned, is created from the highest quality burgundy leather from Casa Fabliano.

Interestingly enough, a similar model featuring a blue Casa Fagliano strap and matching dial was created a year ago – and in the past, Jaeger-LeCoultre and Casa Fagliano have collaborated numerous times with Reverso watches. But it is this burgundy timepiece that is getting all the attention.
