Ride in Royal Style: Belmond’s New Britannic Explorer Luxury Train Debuts This Summer

Britain’s First Luxury Sleeper Train to Wales

Launching July 21, the Britannic Explorer is the first of its kind to offer luxury overnight rail travel between England and Wales. The inaugural three-night itinerary winds through the serene hills of Wales, followed closely by a sun-drenched journey to Cornwall on July 25. A third route to England’s northwest will unveil the majestic Lake District, Britain’s largest national park.

Design Rooted in British Elegance

1

With just 18 cabins across eight carriages—including three opulent Grand Suites with private butler service—the train offers an intimate, bespoke experience. Designed by Albion Nord with whimsical touches from Luke Edward Hall, every inch of the Britannic Explorer feels like a rolling art gallery.

2

Expect bespoke wallpaper, heritage textiles by Rubelli, and hand-crafted armchairs fit for royalty. Each car features artwork by celebrated British artisans including Olly Fathers, Sarah Woods, Mel Campion, and Marcus James. Even the lighting—curated by Rose Uniacke—is a statement in style.

Wellness & Gastronomy at High Speed

Step into the Wellness Suite by Wildsmith Skin for an in-transit facial or massage, then make your way to one of two botanically inspired dining cars. Michelin-starred chef Simon Rogan, a pioneer of Britain’s farm-to-table movement, leads the culinary vision, infusing meals with native herbs, edible flowers, and local produce. Whether it’s a perfectly steeped afternoon tea or a multi-course seasonal tasting menu, this is dining at 100 km/h with no compromise on taste or elegance.

Beyond the Tracks: Luxe Local Experiences

Off-train excursions are just as elevated. Think paddleboarding on Windermere, lavender fields in Wales, and sailing along Cornwall’s coast—all thoughtfully curated to reflect the richness of Britain’s cultural and natural heritage.

Why It Belongs on Your Bucket List

This train merges the nostalgia of golden-era rail travel with today’s demand for luxury, personalization, and immersive culture. Whether you’re a connoisseur of fine design, a wellness wanderer, or simply someone who prefers their countryside with a side of champagne—the Britannic Explorer delivers.
