Apple is taking a major step into the world of artificial intelligence. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the company has quietly developed an internal ChatGPT-like app called Veritas to test out a Siri AI revamp that is expected to launch in 2026.
What is Veritas?
Veritas is not a public product — at least, not yet. It’s an internal tool available only to Apple employees working in the company’s AI division. Its purpose is to prepare the next generation of Siri by allowing Apple to test large language models, new integrations, and experimental features in a chatbot-like environment.
Siri’s Evolution

Apple has been slower than competitors like OpenAI and Google to fully embrace AI-powered assistants. While the company introduced Apple Intelligence last year, it relies on a hybrid model that combines Apple’s in-house technology with partner AI models.
The new Siri, powered by a system codenamed Linwood, will use Apple’s own large language models alongside third-party AI technology. This upgrade is being designed to make Siri smarter, more responsive, and more capable of performing tasks similar to today’s advanced AI chatbots.
Features Being Tested
Using Veritas, Apple is experimenting with features that go beyond simple voice commands:
- AI-powered personal search across a user’s data, from emails to playlists.
- In-app intelligence, including photo editing with AI.
- Natural conversation upgrades, making Siri more context-aware and adaptable.
These features could transform Siri into a more intuitive and powerful everyday assistant, closing the gap with other AI tools on the market.
What’s Next for Siri?
Apple has reportedly delayed the Siri revamp multiple times, but the current timeline suggests a March 2026 launch. The company is still finalizing which external AI partners it will work with, but Veritas’ role signals Apple’s serious commitment to bringing AI innovation to its ecosystem.
With the iPhone 17 already on the market, the Siri AI revamp could be Apple’s next game-changing mobile feature.
