Just in time for Christmas, Hublot and Scuderia reveal a new collaboration – a limited edition Big Bang Ferrari Scuderia Corsa timepiece. Baroque Access has all the details
For six years, Scuderia Corsa and Hublot have collaborated to create Hublot Ferrari Big Bang personalized timepieces to celebrate the Scuderia Corsa Ferrari GT racing team’s victories. The latest exclusive timepiece, released early this month, comes in a very limited edition of just 25 and celebrates the team’s first 100 victories.
Over the past 6 years, Scuderia Corsa has competed in many iconic races, including the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the Indianopolis 500 and the Daytona 24HR. Since the team debuted in 2012 it has had numerous victories in various important races such as the 12 Hours of Sebring, 6 Hours of Watkins Glen and the 24 Hours of Le Mans. To date it boasts numerous championships including three consecutive IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship titles, a title in the Pirelli World Challenge Competition and various titles in the Ferrari Challenge.
This is not the first time the two brands have collaborated: in 2012 they first got together to create the Hublot Big Bang Ferrari Magic Gold. Then, in 2016 they enjoyed a successful launch of a similar timepiece to the current one that also celebrated the team’s historic season, which included a win at Le Mans, and the crowning of the first-ever female champ in IMSA history.
According to Hublot CEO, Ricardo Guadalupe, “The collaboration between Hublot and Ferrari has proved it is a real success and a hand-in-hand collaboration. It’s an extraordinary fusion of the fine watchmaking craftmanship hold by Hublot and the exceptional Italian industrial achievement hold by Ferrari, and an eternal pursuit for transcendent quality and innovation. We are delighted to personalize the new designed Big Bang Ferrari for the first time, for Scuderia Corsa.”
The latest timepiece from Hublot, which is only available in the United States, features authentic carbon fiber from the Scuderia Corsa team’s Ferrari 488 GT3. The 45mm watch is unique in more ways than one… the watch bezel is created from carbon disc brakes from the team’s car that has been blended with black ceramic.
Each timepiece boasts a 330-part UNICO self-winding column-wheel chronograph movement that is visible through the sapphire crystal and casebook. The sapphire dial features red lacquered applied numerals, red lacquered hands and an applied Ferrari Prancing Horse logo. It features a power reserve of 72 hours and is water resistant to 100 meters. It comes with a red calfskin strap with black rubber and black stitching.
The timepiece, which retails at $34,600, was unveiled in Los Angeles early in December 2018 in the presence of Hublot CEO Ricardo Guadalupe along with Giacomo Mattioli, Founder of Scuderia Corsa and Mattioli Auto Group.
