Located in the heart of La Calatrava, one of Palma de Mallorca’s oldest neighborhoods, the brand new El Llorenç Parc de la Mar is scheduled to open to the public in time for summer 2019. Baroque Travel finds out why this boutique hotel is causing so much interest

With just 33 exclusive guest rooms, a stunning 3-tiered rooftop and an infinity pool, this brand new hotel has it all. Guests can relax in Balinese-style sun beds next to the infinity pool, enjoy sweeping views of Palma Bay and the rooftops over the Old Town, enjoy a spa treatment or a dip in the indoor pool at the luxury Spa. And that’s not all. The hotel’s gastronomic destination restaurant, DINS Santi Taura, named after its chef, Santi Taura, serves stunning dishes in a modern bistro setting. There’s also the restaurant TANNUR, that will offer traditional Arabic fare cooked in a special clay oven. And let’s not forget the rooftop terrace, bar and room service, all overseen by Chef Santi Taura.

Talking of the bar, it’s located at the top of the tiered terrace, offering spectacular 360-degree sunset views of the super yachts as they sail past, with a starry canopy after dark. And then there’s the spa, offering enhancing and revitalizing wellness and beauty treatments, a 14-meter long indoor thermal pool, sauna, Turkish bath, ice fountain and aromatic showers. The state of the art gym at the Spa is open 24/7.

With interiors created by Swedish designer Magnus Ehrland who was inspired by local history and Moorish tradition, the hotel’s design pays homage to the history of this area, called La Calatrava, which is still home to ancient Arab baths and a former Muslim fortress, La Almudaina, that was subsequently transformed into a royal palace.

The hotel’s location is ideal for exploring the Mallorca’s historic sights – it’s set on the city’s former defence walls, with breathtaking views overlooking Palma Bay. Discover sights nearby that include the Church of Santa Fe and the Church of Monti-Sion, plus the 750-year-old Convent of Santa Clara. Other famous sights are also with easy reach, including Almudaina Palace and the S’Hort del Rei Gardens.

An experience here is quite unique, whether you’re visiting for business or pleasure. Aside from personalized service and every possible facility, guests can also enjoy a Personal Shopper service, car and bicycle hire, and numerous gastronomic experiences covering the myriad cultures that have made their home on this fascinating island.
