The extraordinary Winter at Tantora Festival which runs until 7 March 2020 features an exciting series of exclusive events every weekend. The festival, which started on 19 December, 2019, is located in the historic area of Al Ula, which is located in the Medina Region. One of Saudi Arabia’s hidden gems, Al Ula is a UNESCO World Heritage Site with a magical desert landscape. Home to numerous archaeological treasures, incredible natural beauty and magnificent monuments that span thousands of years, Al Ula is the ideal location for a fabulous winter festival, offering visitors the chance to enjoy numerous exciting activities including flying in a vintage aircraft or taking to the skies in a hot air balloon.
But that’s not all. Winter at Tantora Festival includes plenty of arts and culture. Top international music stars such as Enrique Eglesias, Lionel Richie, Yanni and Andrea Bocelli, will all perform in the iconic Mayara concert hall, a masterpiece of modern engineering with its exterior walls completely covered with mirrors that reflect the stunning landscape.
And when they’re not enjoying world class music acts, visitors can explore Al Ula’s desert canyons and majestic mountains. This months festival highlights include a live concert from 23 to 25 January 2020 by British funk and acid band Jamiroquai and the world’s first-ever Desert Polo tournament, held from 16 to 18 January 2020, which will include some of the most prestigious international players.
There are plenty more highlights during this auspicious festival. Here are a few… From the weekend of 30 January to 01 February, Andrea Bocelli will enchant and hundreds of horse riders will compete in the prestigious Fursan Endurance Race. Then on 08 February trail running and hiking takes center stage on the Ecotrail, which includes 80km, 50km and 10km trail running races as well as a 10km hiking race. Then, on the penultimate weekend, Kool and the Gang and Sister Sledge perform on 27 February, while Lionel Richie and Craig David take to the stage on 28 February. The events taking place on the final weekend, 5 – 7 March, have yet to be revealed.
