NYC celebrates good food and wine

This coming week, for four days from 15 to 18 October, New York City celebrates its annual Food and Wine Festival, where celebrity chefs, foodies, gourmet gurus and the like come to experience innovative cuisine and creative cocktails all in the name of a good cause – ending world hunger. Baroque Lifestyle found out all about it

Last year, NYC’s Food and Wine Festival raised more than $1 million for two charities, Food Bank for New York City and the No Kid Hungry® Campaign – and together with previous years, the city has raised $8.5 million in the fight against hunger. This year’s festival will be the eighth in a row. Presented by the Food Network & Cooking Channel, New York City Food and Wine Festival is getting ready to celebrate good food and wine and raise a fortune in the process. And this Food and Wine Festival is really one of a kind – it brings together culinary icons from all over the world as well as America’s best loved TV chefs who not only inspire and teach the public how to enjoy and prepare good food and pair it with equally good wine, but raises money to fight hunger at the same time.

Initially the city’s Food and Wine Festival was going to be a one-night event. But the success of the first one in 2007, resulted in founder and director Lee Brian Schrager, who is VP for Corporate Communications and National Events at Southern Wine and Spirits of America, launching the festival on an annual basis. This year’s festival promises to be even bigger and better than ever, with a host of celebrity chefs from all over the globe, winemakers, producers of spirits and culinary personalities on hand to educate your palate and entertain you in style. Various workshops and seminars will be held where guests can learn more about their passion, whether it’s finding out from Martha Stewart how to decorate a cake, or learning how to refine your palate in a wine tasting class with Wine Spectator Magazine. You can also dine on sublime cuisine in a choice of more than 20 dinners with world-famous celebrity chefs.
