The magnificent Shangri-la Rasa Ria Resort in Kota Kinabulu is not only Borneo’s most luxurious hotel – it’s just made it onto the list of Conde Nast Reader’s Travel Awards top 20 best hotels in Asia and India. No mean feat, as this list includes hundreds of establishments.

In addition, everything here is eco-friendly, from the championship golf course to the 645-acre nature reserve just waiting to be explored and its own private orangutan education center.
