Kick off your year with a trip Down Under to enjoy tennis at its best – the Australian Open Tennis in Melbourne from 18 to 31 January 2016! Baroque Travel has all the details
Australia is renowned for its excellent tennis facilities, and with summer in full swing Down Under, you’re in for a stunning trip. All the top Australian players will be out in full force to show their mettle at both the Rod Laver and Margaret Court Arenas in Melbourne.
The Australian Open, which has been in existence for more than a century (the first one was in 1905), is held every year at the end of January in magical Melbourne. This is the first of the four Grand Slam tennis events of the year, and is followed in sequence by the French Open, Wimbledon in London and the US Open.
The exciting tournament features both men’s and women’s tennis – singles, doubles and even mixed doubles and junior championships. There are always a selection of fabulous, fun events to keep everybody busy for the entire two week season.
Typically, the Australian Open is one of the more popular tournaments, second only to the US Open. The Australian tournament is also the first Gland Slam of the four to feature indoor play during wet weather or extreme heat on its three primary courts – the Rod Laver, Margaret Court Arenas, and the Hisense Arena.
As the full schedule for this exciting tournament is only being released on 12 January, we are offering you a look at the schedule of play. This way, you can take a look at what games are being played before the players are announced, and decide from there which games you wish to attend.
