For the fifth year in a row, the oldest and most prestigious award, Car of the Year, will be announced at the Geneva Motor Show, which takes place from 3 to 13 March 2016 at Palexpo
The announcement of the Car of the Year winner will take place at the opening of the International Motor Show, prior to the two Press days that precede the show. This is when the jury awards their final points to the seven finalists to decide the winner.
The awards ceremony, which is reserved only for exhibitors and media (58 journalists from 22 European countries have been invited), takes place in the Congress Center at Palexpo. This event is a pre-show highlight and promises to be very exciting in 2016, as the seven contenders are all worthy of the title. The Car of the Year Jury has already chosen its seven favorites from a total of 29 models. They include Audi A4, BMW 7 series, Volvo XC90, Jaguar XE, Mazda MX5, Opel/Vauxhall Astra and the Skoda Superb.
The finalists underwent their last series of tests on 15 and 16 February last week, at the Automobile Research and Testing Center in Mortefontaine, France. Now it’s up to the jury to decide which vehicle is the most innovative when it comes to design, quality and value for money. The election process takes place on Monday 29 February at 3pm Palexpo. You can view the event in real time on the Motor Show and Car of the Year websites.
