From 13 to 15 May this coming week, the Santander 2016 Spanish Grand Prix, or, as they say it in Spanish, the Gran Premio de España will take center stage in the exciting city of Barcelona. The event is being held at the Circuit de Catalunya in Montmelo, approximately 30 minutes’ drive from the city. Of course, when you’re not enjoying the Formula One experience, Barcelona has plenty to offer. This delightful city is rich in history and its architecture is both legendary and extraordinary. And then there are the stunning shops, cafes, bars and restaurants, not to mention the colorful markets and the beautiful beaches. The most popular area to explore are the busy city squares, the narrow streets of the Old Town as well as the famous Ramblas, where locals and tourists go to enjoy a mid-morning tapas, or linger over a long lunch, enjoy a selection of afternoon pastries at teatime, or join the buzz for a late dinner.
The Spanish Formula One Grand Prix starts off with the Practice run on Friday 13 May. Saturday 14 May is when the Qualifying Race takes place, and Sunday 15 May is the big event.
