The latest 2016 collection of timepieces from La Fabrique du Temps Louis Vuitton, the luxury brand’s horology arm, includes the first of its Voyager collection for men, the Louis Vuitton GMT, an ideal timepiece for those who travel frequently. Baroque Access finds out all about it
Now you can be on time in any time zone, with the brand new Louis Vuitton GMT timepiece, which was unveiled recently. Designed specifically for those who travel extensively, the GMT complication is the heart of this exceptional watch. Set within a unique case, the timepiece has an unusual shape; a combination of a circle and a square, which was also used for another Louis Vuitton timepiece, the Flying Tourbillon.
This mechanical watch has sides finished with satin and a contrasting dial with a polished top. It boasts an automatic wind and it shows of a second time zone on a disc. Calibrated at 24 hours, the watch face has two colors to indicate night and day. At the center of the dial is the magnificent V-shape, which was originally designed by Gaston-Louis Vuitton as his personal emblem. It represents both the words ‘voyager’ and ‘Vuitton.’ This is a homage to the legacy of the brand’s original innovator who founded Louis Vuitton in 1854. The V motif connects the numbers at 9 and 3 ‘o clock.
The Louis Vuitton GMT will available with a choice of a steel bracelet or Louis Vuitton’s grained black Taurillon leather bracelet, with either a silver or anthracite dial. As a nod to current trends, there will also be an 18-carat pink gold version, featuring a navy blue alligator strap and a dial of the same colour. The collection will be released to stores worldwide in June 2016. Prices start at approximately $5,700 for the 41.5mm steel version.
