The ultimate guide to the 2017 St. Moritz Ski Championship

This February, St Moritz will be in the spotlight as the FIS Alpine World Ski Championships 2017 take place. Aside from being able to watch the very best skiers in the world take to the slopes, guests will also enjoy a wealth of activity and entertainment. Baroque Access finds out everything you need to know

 

The 44th FIS World Ski Championships, to be held in St Moritz, Switzerland, from 6 to 19 February 2017, features 11 races, all of which end under the Finishing Arch in Salastrains. The grandstand and the Fan Village are both expected to be packed to the rafters for all of these races, and St Moritz itself will be a hive of activity with movies, ice skating, village tours, music concerts, live acts, an airshow, theater performances and much more scheduled to entertain visitors.

 

Most of the events will take place at the newly restored Kulm Park or in the village itself. For those who prefer a quiet moment, there’s the installation ‘Light and Transcience’ at the Mauritius Church in the village.

 

 

ENTERTAINMENT SCHEDULE 

The entertainment program of the FIS Alpine World Ski Championships St. Moritz 2017 is varied and takes place at different sites such as the finish area in Salastrains, Kulm Park and the pedestrian area in St. Moritz Dorf.

Public Village: daily 7 – 19 February, 8am – 4pm

At the Public Village various sponsorship tents, food stand as well as “Guggenmusik” and DJ set invite to linger.

Inscunter – Street Festival: daily 7 – 19 February, 2pm – 11pm 

In the pedestrian area of St. Moritz will be a daily program featuring local artists of the Canton of Graubünden.

Kulm Park Party: daily 6 – 18 February, 4pm – 11pm

In addition to the opening ceremony and the medal ceremonies you can enjoy live performances of Swiss artists and many DJs and at the Kulm Park, the centerpiece of this ski event.

The entertainment program in figures

During the entertainment program of the FIS Alpine World Ski Championships St. Moritz 2017 you can enjoy 35 live-acts and concerts with free entrance: 7 different live performer from Switzerland will bring the mood at Kulm Park to the boil. 28 concerts by creative artists from Graubunden at the Inscunter Street Festival in the pedestrian area will ensure diversified entertainment and good mood. Furthermore, you will be enchanted by 11 cultural performances during the Ski World Championships. On 4 days, it will be worth putting your heads back to marvel at the air shows by Patrouille Suisse, Swiss Int. Airlines and the PC-7 Team. On 2 days, you will even have the chance to meet the pilots up close. During more than 150 hours, various DJ’s will make you go crazy at the numerous party locations and nations houses and the party in the village will go on until late at night.
