New from Porsche – Carrera T 911

German sports car legend Porsche has just introduced the latest to its long line of 911 models, the Porsche 911 Carrera T, which comes complete with a manual gearbox. Baroque Ground finds out all about it

When it comes to performance cars, a manual transmission is a wonderful thing, despite being somewhat rare in the world of super cars these days. Porsche has decided to change all that with its new Special Edition Touring 911, in an effort to protect what is becoming a rare breed. The new Porsche 911 Carrera T was inspired by the legendary 911 T manufactured in 1968. But to modernize it, Porsche even included some of the features of the new 911 GT3 Touring pack.

Interestingly enough, the 911 Carrera T is the lightest 911 available in the market today. The super car is powered by a twin-turbo 3.0 flat-six, the same as the one used in the base Carrera model. It produces 370 horsepower and 339 pound-feet of torque.

The most noteworthy news comes in the shape of the car’s seven-speed manual transmission. This manual-equipped version achieves 0-60mph in just 4.3 seconds, which is 0.1 seconds faster than the standard 911 Carrera. Meanwhile a PDK dual-clutch automatic is also available for an extra cost.

Visually, the new Carrera T has slight differences to its counterparts. Many of its performance-enhancing features are not usually included in the 911 Carrera, but this one has them – Porsche’s aim is to provide owners with a more visceral driving experience. The new Carrera T boasts a new front lip, 20-inch Carrera S wheels that have a finish in titanium grey and side mirrors that are agate grey. On the side stripes one finds Carrera T branding and there’s a 911 Carrera T bade on the lid of the rear deck.

If you are interested in ordering this exceptional new Porsche Carrera model, which is priced at around $103,000, you can do so. Deliveries internationally, including in the US, start in March 2018. There is a choice of nine exterior colors, including Black, GT Silver, Guards Red, Jet Black, Lava Orange, Metallic Carrara White, Miami Blue and Racing Yellow.
