It’s not what you’d expect to find in Sweden at all, but the Nimb Hotel in Copenhagen is not only one of the city’s most luxurious hotels, but it’s also one of the most extraordinary. Baroque Travel has all the details.
Located in Copenhagen’s iconic Tivoli Gardens, the luxurious Nimb Hotel is a Moorish style palace with a striking Venetian marble façade. Inside it’s another story entirely, a modern, spacious, Danish-style gem offering every possible luxury and its own definitive personality. There’s a four-poster bed and a log fire in every room, original works of art adorn the walls and the views of Tivoli Gardens are exceptional. Each features a large private bathroom.
Stepping into this Moorish palace is a complete surprise, as the interior is so different from the hotel’s façade. But there is a whimsical element in the interior with bird motifs, spinning wheels hung on the walls, and extraordinary chandeliers making their evidence felt in the sleek black, white and grey spaces.
Recently, the hotel unveiled its new rooftop terrace that offers spectacular views of the city and features a 60 square meter outdoor swimming pool, pool bar and lounge area. The pool is fitted with magnificent Italian mosaics and has been specially designed to create an underwater interplay and a counter-flow feature, both of which offer guests the opportunity to swim on the spot for a long period of time. In addition, the new rooftop terrace will offer special dining and music events three times a week.
What sets this exquisite hotel apart is its personalised service, choice of excellent restaurants and the fact that every suite in the hotel is uniquely and individually decorated. Interestingly enough, the hotel is not a large one; it features just 38 rooms and suites in all. But the dining options are exceptional – the six stunning options include a gourmet restaurant and a French brasserie – and there’s also a rustic wine cellar and grand hotel bar.
The hotel, which is centrally located, became a member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World in July. It has an exclusive partnership with Holckenhavn Castle, a Renaissance castle located on the island of Funen. This enables guests at Nimb Hotel to enjoy a unique experience visiting the castle.
Guests of the Nimb Hotel enjoy exclusive private access to the Tivoli Gardens with its Chinese pagodas, lake featuring a pirate ship and numerous cherry trees. The hotel also offers a state-of-the-art spa, although guests can also request massages and beauty treatments in the privacy of their own rooms. There’s also a gym for those who are fitness fanatics, or those who want to sample all the delicacies on offer in the hotel at its six dining establishments – a Danish restaurant, laid back brasserie, a Bar ‘n Grill, refined a la carte restaurant and the gourmet Gemyse Restaurant. The Nimb Bar is housed in what used to be a ballroom; it’s filled with chandeliers and boasts a beautiful fireplace. Cocktails here are superb and the range of spirits and wines is impressive.
