Sail to NYC for Fashion Week and enjoy a Transatlantic Fashion Week on board the luxurious Queen Mary 2! Baroque Travel has all the details.
This September, the iconic Cunard cruise liner, Queen Mary 2, is hosting a Transatlantic Fashion Week Crossing for the third consecutive year. Passengers depart from Southampton in England on 2 September on a 7-night cruise, arriving in NYC in time to catch the hype and frenzy of New York Fashion Week. En route, they will not only enjoy a luxurious cruise with all the iconic pampering that Cunard is known for; they will also experience a Transatlantic Fashion Week, hosted by some of the most famous designers and household names in the world.
The 2018 Transatlantic Fashion Week features the likes of Virginia Bates, who runs an iconic vintage store in London offering clothing and accessories that have inspired top designers such as John Galliano and Ralph Lauren. On the cruise, she will present a collection that offers an insight into her philosophy and the industry in which she works.
World-famous photographer to the stars, Richard Young, will also be joining the voyage. He will give a presentation about his career and the famous people he has photographed. There will also be an exhibition of his photographic works.
InStyle Magazine founder Hal Rubenstein will be there. Historian Colin McDowell will host fashion illustration workshops, Brand Director of MPORTER.com and Jeremy Langmead will also be on the voyage. In addition, Autumn/Winter 2018/2019 designs from the University of Westminster’s Fashion Design students currently in their BA Honors Year will be showcased during the voyage. A glamorous array of catwalk shows, fashion presentations, styling and fashion illustration workshops, as well as showings of new leading retail brands will also be featured.
The newly restored Queen Mary 2 is the epitome of a luxury liner. The flagship of the Cunard fleet, this cruise liner offers the last word in travel luxury – from the largest ballroom at sea to the sumptuous Commodore Club. A cruise on board involves plenty of indulgence, and with the Fashion Week events added in, there’s plenty of inspiration as well.
A luxury cruise involves swimming before breakfast, running a mile around the deck before sunset, and dancing till dawn. There is plenty to do on board, or you can do as little as you wish – it’s all up to you. Dining on board is always an experience, with excellent menus to choose from – French inspired cuisine at The Verandah, enticing international dishes at King’s Court, plus 24-hour dining options in the privacy of your stateroom.
The experience is unique – and so is the ship. Queen Mary 2 is the world’s only true ocean liner. It’s stronger, sleeker, smoother and faster than a cruise ship, and also offers a heritage and tradition that only Cunard can provide.
The fourth annual Transatlantic Fashion Week Crossing in 2019 has already been organised and is set to up the ante. Departing England on 28 July, 2019, the journey will feature another incredible line-up of fashion’s biggest names. British milliner Stephen Jones and American model and author, Pat Cleveland, will join the voyage along with shoe designer Stuart A. Weitzman, who has designed footwear for stars such as Beyoncé and Kate Middleton, Duchess of Cambridge.
