Hitting stores in October in New York and Beverly Hills, as well as London, Paris and various other major fashion cities including one in Russia and a number in the East, Fendi is showcasing a brand new capsule collection in collaboration with sports brand Fila, called Fendi Mania. Baroque Access finds out all the details
The Fendi Mania capsule collection features a whimsical ‘Fendi/Fila’ logo that was created by Instagram artist @hey_reilly. This playful logo was initially showcased on the runway in February this year at Milan Fashion Week in Fendi’s Fall/Winter 2018/2019 collection. It translates the Fendi spirit into luxury sportswear.
The positive feedback and popularity of the logo and the garments displayed resulted in the upcoming exclusive capsule collection. Whereas the Fall shows only featured garments and accessories for women, this extensive Fall/Winter 2018 capsule collection has now expanded to include a range of clothing for men as well as children aged 3 to 12.
Fendi’s CEO, Serge Brunschwig joined the luxury design brand in February. He was previously at Dior Homme and was instrumental in revisiting the Fendi and Fila collaboration. He has described the collection as being very luxurious and creative.
Fendi Mania has its own logo that features two different color combinations – red and blue or yellow and white. The logo is also displayed with graphic diagonal stripes and in some cases it is even featured on reversible bombers and fur coats. It is evident too as an all-over pattern on pleated skirts that are paired with coordinating blouses and tops. There’s a decided Western feel to the collection, visible when the logo is paired with stars on denim blazers and other garments. It also channels a ‘80s aesthetic, which sets it apart and is evident in items such as cowboy boots and waist bags. You’ll find the logo on various menswear staple items, too, including dark denim pieces, sweaters and padded vests.
In true Fendi style, accessories are numerous. Cowboy boots and sock sneakers reign supreme, with the Fendi Mania logo emblazoned on them. The capsule collection also includes a Peekaboo handbag with a waterproof cover, various crocodile tote bags and even a Momento Fendi Mania watch that is designed to appeal to both men and women. It features a silver-white dial and the iconic Fendi Mania logo embossed in red and blue.
The Fendi Mania capsule collection comprises a variety of small leather goods, as well as backpacks, accessories, waist bags, caps and numerous footwear options. It will be available in Fendi boutiques on 16 October as well as online. Garments cannot be reserved in advance. However, you can watch out for the special T-shirt that will be launched exclusively online th
