A Maldives holiday is a luxurious experience, an opportunity to get away from it all to a little slice of paradise in the Indian Ocean with nothing on the horizon. Three luxury Maldives resorts are now offering unique experiences at their spas, to provide guests with the ultimate health and wellness experience while they’re lavishing in the middle of the sea. Of course, these are the ultimate experiences, completely unique offerings that make a getaway in the Maldives that more special.
Resort brand Anantara introduced a medical spa at its famous Kihavah resort in the Maldives offering a variety of superb Ayurvedic treatments in the over-water spa sanctuary with special suites for massage, facials and body treatments. There is also a selection of medical offerings at the resort’s Cocoon Medical Spa that promise to “rejuvenate your body from the inside out with innovative new therapies that detoxify and cleanse”.
The medical spa’s idyllic setting is only half of the therapy – the body is transformed by a qualified team using cutting edge treatments that assist with weight loss and skin problems. These include the iconic ‘Vampire Facial’ using the client’s own blood cells to boost collagen production and promote glowing, radiant skin. Alternatively there’s a which involves diamond microdermabrasion, LED Red Light therapy, a 24-carat gold leaf mask, Peptide Hyaluronic Acid Serum and Peptide Gold Collagen Moisturiser. For the body, there’s an hour-long gentle Colon Hydrotherapy treatment.
Close to Anantara is the Niyama Resort that has adopted IV Formulations for guests in collaboration with Beverly Hills IV Therapy. There’s also the resort’s Drift Spa that offers numerous more regular spa treatments. Niyama offers a comprehensive selection of 45-minute Beverly Hills IV Therapy treatments to “support optimal health and wellness for guests who want to get the most out of their Maldives island holiday”.
The Drift Spa medical staff created a menu of original IV therapy formulations with Deborah Alessi, CEO of Beverly Hills IV Therapy that include options such as Detox, Hydrate, Fat Burn, Jet Lag, Anti-Aging and Vacation Booster. These IV treatments are available either at the spa or in guests’ own Villas.
For a totally different type of treatment experience, head for the InterContinental’s first Maldives resort, Maamunagau, where a traditional Chinese practitioner operates from the Overwater AVI Spa, offering a holistic approach to wellness and rejuvenation. The Chinese practitioner curates and tailors treatments to guests’ requirements, from traditional massage to musculoskeletal therapy and nutritional therapy. The AVI Spa offers six overwater treatment villas where Chinese or more traditional Western beauty and wellness treatments are offered.
