Heesen Reveals Project Ananda, Its Largest Steel Superyacht Ever

Dutch shipyard Heesen Yachts has unveiled plans for its most ambitious steel superyacht to date: the magnificent 237-foot Project Ananda.

Named after the Sanskrit word for “inner joy,” the new flagship represents a major milestone for Heesen, surpassing the yard’s previous largest steel yacht, Sparta, by an impressive 17 feet. Scheduled for delivery in 2030, Project Ananda combines hybrid propulsion, cutting-edge wellness facilities, and highly customizable living spaces into one extraordinary package.

A New Flagship for Heesen

Developed through Heesen’s innovative Smart Custom platform, Project Ananda gives owners the flexibility of a custom yacht while benefiting from the efficiency of a proven engineering platform.

The yacht’s exterior was created in collaboration with Sinot Yacht Architecture & Design, resulting in a sleek five-deck vessel wrapped within an ultra-efficient steel hull.

The design balances strong contemporary lines with elegant proportions, creating a yacht that feels both imposing and refined.

Designed Around Wellness and Relaxation

One of Project Ananda’s most distinctive features is its extraordinary focus on wellness.

The yacht incorporates a nearly 1,100-square-foot spa and beach club complex that rivals those found in the world’s finest luxury resorts.

Highlights include:

  • Sauna
  • Steam room
  • Ice bath
  • Snow shower
  • Massage treatment rooms
  • Medical treatment facilities
  • Hyperbaric chamber
  • Dedicated wellness bar

The inclusion of a hyperbaric chamber reflects a growing trend among ultra-high-net-worth yacht owners who are prioritizing health, recovery, and wellness experiences at sea.

Resort-Style Outdoor Living

Project Ananda is equally impressive outdoors.

A stunning travertine-clad swimming pool serves as the social centerpiece of the yacht, accompanied by a Teppanyaki-style bar designed for entertaining guests.

Renderings also reveal multiple Jacuzzis positioned throughout the vessel, providing panoramic views and additional relaxation areas.

The expansive deck spaces are designed to maximize outdoor living while maintaining privacy and seamless access to the sea.

Adding to the yacht’s expedition capabilities is a dedicated helipad, enabling efficient arrivals and departures regardless of location.

Elegant and Highly Customizable Interiors

The interior design was developed jointly by Heesen and Sinot, emphasizing comfort, privacy, and personalization.

Guests arriving onboard are guided directly to a central glass elevator, allowing them to access their accommodations without passing through social gathering spaces.

The owner’s suite can be configured in multiple ways depending on personal preferences.

Options include:

  • A forward-facing owner’s apartment with a private deck
  • Aft-facing owner accommodations
  • Dedicated private office
  • Expanded lounge areas
  • Personalized outdoor terraces

This flexibility allows owners to tailor the yacht to their lifestyle while maintaining a highly refined and sophisticated onboard environment.

Hybrid Performance and Long-Range Capability

Beneath the luxury lies advanced engineering.

Project Ananda will be powered by twin MTU 12V4000 M65L IMO Tier III engines paired with PTI/PTO hybrid gearboxes.

Performance highlights include:

  • Silent cruising for up to four hours
  • Range of approximately 5,000 nautical miles
  • Cruising speed of 12 knots
  • Maximum speed of 16 knots
  • Reduced emissions through hybrid technology

The combination of efficiency, long-range capability, and silent operation positions Project Ananda among the next generation of environmentally conscious luxury superyachts.

The Future of Ultra-Luxury Yachting

As the superyacht market continues to evolve, Project Ananda showcases several of the industry’s most important trends: sustainability, wellness, customization, and long-range exploration.

By combining a hybrid propulsion system with resort-style amenities and extensive personalization options, Heesen has created a yacht that reflects the changing priorities of modern yacht owners.

When Project Ananda launches in 2030, it will not only become Heesen’s largest steel superyacht ever built but also one of the most advanced and wellness-focused yachts in its class.
