Modern, refreshing and appropriately chic, this brand new boutique hotel opened its doors on the first of December. Baroque Travel takes a look

If you are visiting Madrid over the Festive Season or in the near future, why not enjoy a stay in a modern boutique hotel that has just opened? The Only You Hotel Atocha is the second hotel from Spanish boutique hotel brand Only You. The first, which is located in the Chueca district, is extremely popular because of its quirky, ultra stylish interior. And this new one, which offers 206 rooms over seven floors in a converted historic building, is likely to be just as unique.

Only You Hotels offer guests a luxury hotel experience of a different kind; reinventing the luxury experience to suit its cosmopolitan guests. Balancing spontaneity with sophistication, this new hotel brings with it a spirit of genuine Spanish hospitality with an enthusiastic edge.

It’s located close to the Madrid-Atocha Train Station and a 10-minute walk to centrally located Retiro Park, which is close to a variety of popular shops, restaurants and bars. The famous Prado Museum is 900m from the hotel, and the renowned Puerta del Sol is three minutes away by taxi. The hotel offers comfortable rooms with large-screen TVs, en suite bathroom, bathrobe and slippers. Guests can enjoy breakfast here, and there is also a café and bakery.

Aside from its stunning location close to so many of the city’s attractions, this new urban hotel has another advantage, a home-from-home feel for those who are yearning for an authentic taste of New York. It offers a selection of unique American-style features, such as a pop up gin bar that features some cocktails that made their name in the Big Apple. During the current four-month launch period, visitors can also enjoy authentic jazz from the famous US jazz label Blue Note, a barber shop that is reminiscent of Frank’s Chop Shop on the Lower East Side, and a superb menu specially created for the hotel by New York-based Michelin star chef, Bryce Shuman.

The hotel is the perfect base from which to explore Madrid on foot or by taxi. Its stunning modern décor was designed by Barcelona-based interior decorator Lázaro Rosa Violán, and the result is a warm, welcoming, sophisticated space. The spectacular lobby features different areas and concepts that visitors can enjoy throughout the day and at night, with exhibitions, events and an inviting bar and café.

Other features include a gym with personal trainer and running club, and numerous dining options, including Trotamundos by Spoonik, offering Asian and Caribbean fusion food created by resident chef Javi Mora, The Bakery by Mama Framboise, which offers numerous sweet and savory delights New York deli style, and the already popular YouUniverse, a restaurant with a terrace on the seventh floor, where guests enjoy breakfast or brunch with stunning city views.
