Always ready to find the new and extraordinary, Baroque Travel offers this unique gem, the stylish, imaginative Kimpton De Witt Hotel in Amsterdam

Whether you’re passing through this summer en route to a coastal destination or spending time in Amsterdam for business or pleasure, there’s a new hotel worth considering as your base. The Kimpton De Witt Hotel was once home to famous 17th Century poet and playwright P.C. Hooft, and has since been meticulously restored, keeping some of its old world magic and adding chic modern elements that make it quite unique. Decorated with exquisite art pieces created by local artists, and featuring plush accommodation as well as a trendy gastro pub and bar, this stunning establishment is located in the heart of the city, just 300m from Central Station.

We know we said this used to be a poet’s residence, but the hotel is actually enormous, covering a number of buildings including some that date back to the Renaissance era. There are 274 guest rooms in total, including rooms, suites and villas, some with city views and others secluded to offer peace and quiet. The choice is wide, with fireplaces in some rooms, private balcony or terrace in others and exquisite specialty penthouse suites as another option. Fifteen of the rooms in the hotel are located in original buildings that date back to the Renaissance era.

Guest facilities in the rooms are luxurious and plentiful and include iPads and MacBooks on loan, 24-hour in-room dining, gourmet local treats in the mini bar, plush Frette robes, Gaiam yoga mats, a Nespresso machine, complimentary WiFi, Smart TVs and Marie-Stella-Maris toiletries in the bathrooms.

To ensure that guests can live like a local, they also have the use of complimentary Van Moof bicycles to explore the city. Oh – and you can bring your pet if you wish.

The hotel décor is Dutch-inspired, fresh, modern and refined, with plenty of imaginative spaces to reflect in, including a leafy garden conservatory and the cozy House Bar. This is an intimate luxury boutique hotel, despite its size, where guests can be pampered in luxury while enjoying the local culture.

The hotel offers three excellent restaurants in all, as well as a Fitness Center that is open 24/7 and a concierge.

The ultimate luxury

For the ultimate luxury, there is a completely private exclusive suite for those who wish to enjoy a secluded stay away from prying eyes and cameras. Located inside this new hotel is Little House, an exquisitely decorated three-story suite in a historic section of the hotel, where one can enjoy a special occasion, wedding, party or any other celebration. The suite offers one king-sized guest room, a twin guest room and a spacious lounge area.
