Yes, Ibiza gets a lot of attention. But this year, let’s make it all about Mallorca, another magnificent Balearic island that offers the ultimate luxury Mediterranean vacation. Baroque Travel has all the details

The largest island in the Balearics, Mallorca boasts exquisite stretches of coastline fringing the magnificent Mediterranean Sea. One of the best beaches in Mallorca is Cala Tuent, located on the island’s north west coast, reached by a long winding road surrounded by pine forests. Stretching through the entire island, from the north east to the south west, one finds the Serra de Tramuntana mountain range, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2011. Exploring the many passes is a delight, with dry-stone constructions on the steep slopes.

Where should you stay, you ask? That’s simple. We choose the ultra-luxurious and historic Cap Rocat, located close to Palma. This completely restored 19th Century military fortress even has its own drawbridge and offers spectacular views of the island and the sea. Every room and suite in the hotel offers private patios with breathtaking panoramic views and the hotel also offers a stunning infinity pool on the fortress walls that looks out over the bay.

The five-star hotel is adults-only – no children under 15 permitted and is set in 88 acres. It stretches along the coastline for 2km and offers guests every possible luxury, including a private rock cliff beach with direct access to the sea, a choice of excellent dining opportunities, a jetty and a saltwater pool.

All 29 rooms in this luxury hideaway on its own peninsula are located in former shooting buttresses of the fortress, offering an extremely romantic and historic setting. Rooms are decorated with a blend of contemporary and classic furnishings and facilities are numerous, including clay tennis courts, mountain biking, hiking, horse riding and numerous water sports such as fishing, jet skiing, scuba diving and sailing.

Guests also have access to a gym, library and a choice of two excellent restaurants – guests can also enjoy dining a deux in their suites, including breakfast served in a picnic hamper. Food is organic and locally sourced – in fact, all fruit and vegetables are grown on the property. In addition, everything at the hotel is eco-friendly.
