Form Hotel Dubai is a new addition to the desert metropolis, a completely unique concept in this international playground. Baroque Travel takes a look at what guests can expect

With the towering Burj Khalifa and other skyscrapers forming a majestic backdrop to desert sand and azure sea, Dubai is fast becoming one of the world’s most popular destinations for business and pleasure. Every hotel brand worth its salt has opened up in the city, inviting visitors to enjoy the quintessential world-class getaway with all the trimmings. Enter the Form Hotel, a landmark project for the city that offers a very different experience.

Design-wise it’s eye-catching, with a striking façade created by internationally renowned Architecture-Studio, but there’s more to the Form Hotel than just good looks. This 136-room boutique hotel comprises custom-crafted spaces, experiences and accommodation that speak to the 21st century traveler. Everything is unique, not necessarily sumptuous or over-the-top – just different. The hotel appeals to the hyper-connected traveler who enjoys healthy, wholesome food served in the modern restaurant, as well as the active facilities on offer that include a half-length Olympic swimming pool on the rooftop and a state-of-the-art gym.

Other additions that appeal to new-age nomads include yoga sessions, designer pyjamas, bespoke food and art tours in the city to discover the magic of Dubai. Located in the up-and-coming district of Al Jadaf and Culture Village, the hotel is a very different take on hospitality in Dubai and the Middle East. A modern take on travel experiences that knows no bounds.

The Form Hotel calls this a ‘millenium state of mind’. Call it what you will, it appeals to those of us who like to feel at home wherever we travel. Rooms and suites, for instance, are simply decorated but with all the facilities. We’re talking an indulgent rain shower in the en suite bathroom, floor to ceiling windows to soak up the panoramic city views, TV equipped with Google wireless Chromecast. Modern means a sofa and a desk in the room as well as a custom-made, extremely comfortable bed.

Part of what makes the hotel so unique is its flexible add-ons. Called weForm, this offers guests the opportunity to pick and choose exactly what experiences, amenities and services they wish to have. Nothing more, nothing less. Guests enjoy what the hotel calls the five essentials of a comfortable stay – the luxury bed, high pressure rain shower, HDTV, complimentary WiFi and a scrumptious, balanced breakfast. They then hand pick everything else to customize their experience.

The hotel’s white façade contrasts dramatically with the warmth and color in the interior spaces that have a definitive Art Deco allure. The Form Hotel is accessible, collaborative, a community-minded property that not only celebrates modernity, but also offers a taste of local culture. It’s also ideally located close to most of the city’s major sights. Public transport is available nearby.
